I've used these brackets for solid oak shelves in my kitchen. They give a great industrial look and extremely sturdy.

Brilliant brackets

Seem very sturdy, comes with a mounting kit. Some of the paint is chipped upon arrival. Still haven_ mounted, but all the welds appear strong enough to hold the cedar beam we have for the mantle.
