Does What It Says
Look at what you're paying for what you get. This is not a high end, expensive materials item. But then you are not paying that sort of price. You get exactly what it says and for the money...it works. The only thing I'd add is if you don't extend the position of the cooling pot, make sure to place some heat insulation under it. You also need a very controllable and reliable heat source. I bet many of those complaining are not using one.People have complained about seals etc but I've had no issues. And were I to - flour and water fixes it. The instructions even tell you that.My only regret is not buying the bigger version. And a minor complaint - it won't quite hold 3 gallons. All in all an excellent buy and at least when starting out, much cheaper than the higher end alternatives.

works good but...
it works well but there are a few things i have to note here. in the description it calls out a thumper, well it isn't a thumper but a slobber box, I was able to convert it to a thumper by adding a 3 inch nipple on it. second the coil is so small its almost impossible to keep it cool enough, I actually bought a larger pot and 10 foot of 3/8 copper tubing and used the fittings from the coil to make my own. that being said it did work good, just expect to put a few dollars into making it work better

Nice For The Price
Recieved it quickly. Was easy to assemble. Did a quick water distill with thumper and had no leaks. The pots were thick enough, but the big pot (8 gal) had a very visible seam going down it. Hope it holds up over time. The thumper keg didn't have a down tube, but I cut some of the water line from the worm to fashion one and it worked fine. Some simple copper fittings & pipe from the hardware store would be best.Would not recommend the 8 gallon for stovetop use.Overall. A good starter kit.

The only problem I've had is the thermometer steams up and eventually fills with liquid otherwise it does an awesome job.

For a small rig, this system rocks, very easy to set up and run
Went ahead and purchased this little rig, with no high hopes. After receiving it and unpacking, I was immediately impressed with the weight of the unit. I expected feather weight steel, this thing actually has a bit of solidity to it. Set it up, ran a water/vinegar initial run, no leaks, worked perfectly for the full run. Next run I had a leak in the pot, stopped the run, tightened the seal, ran perfectly to the end. As long as you do not over-tighten the seals, this rig runs great. I look forward to many many more runs with great success.
