Otázka proč se prodává panely z tak nízkým napětím 15v pracovní 12v když regulátor nedokáže protlačit proud do baterií ze stejním napětím a nedokáže jí plně nebýt při paralelním propojení. Použitelné jen v sérii kdy zvýšíte napětí dvěma panely na 24v aš 30v.
Říká se jim „12V panely“, ale ve skutečnosti poskytují výstupní napětí přibližně 18 V (Vmp), nikoli 12 V. Toto vyšší napětí je nutné, aby mohly i nadále nabíjet 12V baterii prostřednictvím regulátoru. Regulátor nabíjení snižuje napětí a zajišťuje bezpečné nabíjení baterie. U 12V systémů je běžné zapojení do série; zvyšuje se tím proud, nikoli napětí. Sériové zapojení se používá pouze v případě, že chcete systémy s napětím 24 V nebo vyšším.
