Regarding the 6.5" 12v power cord;
1) can power cord be extended a few feet without causing any issues?
2) car thhe aligater clips be replaced by a 12v cigarret lighter plug?

The power supply can be extended to 3-4 meters, but it should not be too long. The second answer is that the cigarette lighter cannot be used.
