How can I remove the malt from the vessel after mashing? Do I need to transfer the wort to another vessel first, then remove the malt and put the wort back into the vessel? I’m not really sure how else I can remove the malt from the vessel. It seems that the screen can only be accessed or moved when the vessel is empty.
After mashing, do not open the lid. Open the tap and drain the clarified wort into another boiling vessel. The filter plate will retain the malt in the vessel. Once the wort is drained, open the lid, remove the filter plate, and clean out the malt residue. Finally, pour the collected wort back into the vessel for boiling.
