How much water should be in to start the pump? I am tedting it but the pump doesnt turn on, it overfliws from higher water inlet.

This pump is automatically activated by water level. It does not need manual priming or a fixed water volume to start. Overflow from the upper inlet usually means the inlet is connected incorrectly, or the check valve is blocked/not working. Please check the installation of inlet pipes and the built-in check valve.

Does 40mm pipe fit in to inlet? Can dirty water contain small solids? I would use it in gardening shed to wash hands, pods and gardening tools.

Connect the water inlet to a 40mm OD PVC rigid pipe. Connect the outlet to the check valve included in the accessory kit and connect to a 28mm or 40mm OD PVC rigid pipe. Install a strainer at the water inlet to remove large particles and prevent clogging over time.
