Bought these items because I got inspired to take up chemistry again.
I have not been disappointed. Be aware, I don't know if this would work as commercial lab grade equipment (I'm speaking of the hotplate and magnetic stirrer), but from an amateur and enthusiast perspective this is an absolute steal!
Vevor has been very good at shipping the products safely and fast.
I'm already planning multiple purchases here.

The stirring part is flawless. Simply I think there should be a way to make the stirrer rotate more slowly. Even turning the knob ever-so-slightly makes the motor spin quickly (IMHO).
The heating part… well exceeds expectations in that it heats up much higher than the advertised 200 °C (> 250 °C). However, the heating is not 100% reliable, sometimes the heating element won’t respond to the knob, in which case I have to switch the unit off and on (and the heating too). Is not a big deal, but is unexpected. Also, I suspect, though I don’t have measured it, that the 'stovetop' is not completely flat but slightly curved. It can’t be steel, it’s probably aluminium since it doesn’t rust up when heated.
Overall, the experience is still great, especially at this price point.

does the VEVOR Magnetic Stirrer Hot Plate, 2L, 200-2000 RPM need the thermal probe sensor in order to work? Can it be used without it?

Answer This Question
The machine has two temperature sensors, and without plugging in external sensors, the machine senses the temperature of the furnace plate (i.e. up to 300 ℃). After inserting an external sensor, the temperature displayed by the machine is no longer the temperature of the furnace plate, but the temperature of the external sensor. At this time, the maximum temperature can be set to 100 ℃.
