Decent for the cost
I have seen worse and better quality anvils.1- There was some flashing I had to cut off on the underside of the horn, no surprise, I had planed to clean off the epoxy coating and slightly reshape the horn anyway. No big deal.2-Upon cutting and flap disking the chunk off I realized the color of the sparks determined it is cast with high carbon steel, using the spark test method.2-Be careful of the epoxy coating, as I'm sure it is very toxic, wear a respirator if grinding.3-There was some fine cast pitting on the horn mainly surface, I'm sure the coatings purpose is to cover these flaws. no big deal. see pic.4-The face is flawless and the hardy hole is square and center.5-the dimensions shown in the manufactures description pictures are way off, see pic.6-as for the hardness of the face, time will tell, if used correctly it should be O.K.not too bad overall for beginners utilizing for small projects, you get what you pay for. Made in China....of course.conclusion: WE NEED TO BRING BACK ALL MANUFACTURING TO NORTH AMERICA,

Outstanding utility anvil
This is not the best anvil in the world. It doesn't pretend to be, and it doesn't come close. However, this anvil is by FAR the best combination of usability, size and value for money on the market. Bar none, no exceptions. It's a new steel anvil for 60-75% the price of *used* market, and it's half (or less) the price of any other new cast anvil. If you have any use at all for an anvil, buy one. Even if you later buy a better anvil, the value here is just so astonishing that you will be kicking yourself if you pass on it and they disappear. This anvil does require significant cleanup. The castings are rough, so the horn needs quite a bit of work with an angle grinder before it can be effectively used. Doesn't matter, at this price I'd still be happy if I had to weld the darn thing together.

Very pleased with my purchase
I am so pleased with this anvil, which I intend to use for making knives & small items. I was going to get the 30 kg model, which to be frank would too far heavy to move around, like I have to, 20kg is perfect, does not jump around like my 10kg railtrack anvil. It is cast steel, NOT inferior cast iron as it says in the opening description, but then later says it is cast steel, which it is.I believe that at this price point you would not get better, I have a cast iron anvil & it is totally different in quality from this one. There is a very reasonable bounce with this anvil and it does ring when struck, so is of a good materialIt has a small sqare Hardy hole & a Pritchel hole as well, which are really useful. The surface is ground flat & is very hard, though the edges need rounding off as they really are too sharp, the horn is a useable size though will require smoothing off somewhat as it is quite rough. There is not cutting table on the anvil, so in my case I will use a plate of mild steel on the face of the anvil. The anvil stands four square & solid on its substantial feet, no rocking around. I have always preffered this type of European style anvil rather than the traditional London pattern, there seem to be more usefull edges, some you can leave sharp if required. I looked at second hand they were mostly overpriced & usually with sway back damage to the working face on the anvil. There are lots of videos online regarding this make of anvil which is Accacio, which I believe is Italian for steel, though made in China I think. Could have been better wrapped for transportation, yes you could damage a anvil! There was no hammer as promised, but it would have been thrown away anyhow. I would not hesitate to buy this anvil again, I am so impressed. Just make sure you are getting the right size for you, these things are really heavy! Good luck, keep safe.

Good value
I bought this for my 11 year old son to start blacksmithing. It works for him, it is soft so any big hammering might damage it. He has made a few projects with it. It gets the job done for the price.J.S.
