I purchased this heater to heat a tent for cold weather camping. We've previously used a buddy heater but were concerned about CO and fire hazard. We don't want to own an RV so needed a safe tent heating solution for family car camping in spring and fall. The diesel heater will be much safer to operate and won't cause condensation from propane combustion in the tent. It was ordered sept 29th and arrived promptly on oct 1st.I've installed the heater and the included fuel pump/filter in a metal case with a 20 Ah deep cycle battery and tested it running on diesel in the yard. Exhaust and conditioned air are routed out the side of the case. The hot air will be ducted into the tent with the unit and fuel tank remaining outside. I've tested it for about 16 consecutive hours and it really cranks out the heat, but also modulates down to a good low running temperature. It runs quietly on low and sounds like a large fan on the higher setting. The muffler is really effective. The heater included pretty good installation and operation instructions which indicate how to prime and run the unit as well as switch between pump volume control and temperature control. The heater really cranks on high and seemed to draw the fuel tank down at about 1"/hr (maybe 1.5 l/hr). On low it consumes appx 1/2 liter/hr. On temperature control, the heater will run on high until the ambient temperature reaches the set temperature, and then it will reduce the fuel pump and fan speed and continue running on low. We measured output air temperature at over 250 degrees F, with ambient air temp of around 65 degrees. I had one instance of the heater overheating on the pump volume setting, but this is likely because it was pretty warm outside during testing and I installed it in a metal case. The unit resets itself once it cooled off and started up again no problem. After running for ~16-20 hrs, it had pretty much drained my 20 Ahr battery. I cycled it down and then tried to fire it back up but got the low voltage error code and measured only 9v from the battery so the unit consumed around 1 amp/hr at 12v over the course of my testing on a variety of settings. The instructions indicate that you can enter the Admin code to adjust the pump settings, but I couldn't figure this out or maybe the code was factory set? Not super clear here. All in all, I am excited about this heater and think it is a great purchase for family car camping, especially if you like to tinker with mechanical stuff. I've been recommending it to all my friends who need to heat their truck camper shells or other sleeping set ups. Thanks for reading,Austin Z
