The color was not what was expected and we wanted to return it. Unfortunately, that was not a suitable reason for a free return. Vevor did credit us back a portion of the cost to keep it. I sanded the mantel down to bare wood and then stained it to a color of our choosing followed by a matte poly finish. Installation was simple.
