Has a good steel flat top on it, though not the highest grade. while it takes more than a love tab it deftly doesn't take a mighty blow with a missed hammer strike to dent the top. The horn is a bit of an odd shape but it works well enough. The Hardy tool hole isn't 1" somewhere between 3/4 and 7/8. Also the blue paint on the side and horn definitely isn't just for rust prevention.. For sure it has a secondary or maybe primary purpose to cover up many many defects in the metal That's why I give it 4 stars but don't get me wrong, overall im happy with it, definitely a good starter anvil.

Great! Turned out black and about a half inch larger surface than advertised which is good. Hard surface, easy to manage but good enough for small projects. So far so good!

Perfect 55lb anvil does exactly what it's designed for. Not too big, not too small for hobby work. Blue- pretty cool

I have a one car garage for a shop and this 66lb anvil is the perfect size. the only complaint is the hardy hole is not square (almost), but beyond that it is a great little anvil.

She is a beauty and solid steel that when hit sings like a bell. Will need to mount in order to stop the ring. The anvil is an excellent buy. Made in China. But extremely well made.

this isnt the best anvil on the market, but not the worst by a long shot. the face is hardened steel. i did clean up the preacher and hardy as there were some burrs, but no big deal. and i grinded the coating off the horn and smoothed it. which was solid with no blemishes. i mounted it nicely and it doesnt ring much either. after a week of use there are some minor dings in the face, so its not perfect. but overall for the price you cant go wrong
