This is a much sturdier hand rail than it looks in the pictures. There is a peculiar misstatement in the description, suggesting that this is aluminum. It is a very heavy steel rail, painted nicely. The expansion bolts that came with it are reasonable quality_ half inch masonry drill is all it takes to drill into a brick wall to install them. It comes with a 12/14 mm open end wrench, but I found it much easier to use a socket wrench and ratchet. This makes it much safer to step out of my house to the patio.Update February 19, 2020. I just installed a second one (gray this time) leading out to my garage. Instead of the expansion bolts that came with it, I purchased 1/2 x 3 lag screws and washers locally, because I installed it into the wood framing of the garage. It is solid_nyone who says otherwise has not installed it properly. Additionally, anyone who has installed it without washers and complains of chipped paint has not properly installed it. This makes it much safer stepping into my garage.
