Can i use other types of battery?
The working voltage is 48-54V, and the capacity is 12-20Ah. Lead-acid batteries are recommended, and lithium batteries are also acceptable, but pay attention to purchasing batteries with corresponding power.

What happens if I use only 1 12v battery?
If the voltage is lower than 40V, the system will be under voltage protection and stop working.

Does the motor have an integrated battery, hence the charger? If not can you recommend a specific battery for operating 4 of these motors at once?
The product requires you to prepare your own battery. The recommended working voltage is 48-54V and the capacity is 12-20Ah. Lead-acid batteries are recommended, and lithium batteries are also acceptable, but you must pay attention to purchasing batteries of corresponding power.

I do understand that this motor is designed for 4x12v lead acid batteries.
Would I kil lthe motor or controller If i connect 3x18v(nominal) makita batteries in series.
The maximum voltage of such configuration is around 63V
Though it would operate in 0C or lower so the actual voltage may be much lower.

what is the plug type
This product does not have a plug. It is recommended to use a lead-acid battery with a working voltage of 48-54V and a capacity of 12-20Ah. Lithium batteries are also acceptable.
