Sturdy and functional
This was our first try at maple syrup. We collected the sap and then boiled it down using a propane burner. The evaporator worked perfectly. There were no leaks, the valve worked as expected when we drained the syrup, and the unit was easily cleaned with a garden hose. The unit is very solid and I expect it should last forever. It is a little pricey but worth every penny.

Great workmanship but has flaws
Likes: seems well constructed with good welds.Polished to a mirror finish on the inside like the pictures show.Came with all the hardware.Pan is 2' x 3' like the picture shows and not 2' x 4' like the page heading says. I expected that.Dislikes: in the pictures I had a feeling the divider didn't go to the bottom. I measured after getting. It sits 1.75 inches off the bottom all the way across making this a conventional pan, not a divided pan as advertised.Luckily I wanted conventional anyway but if you are wanting a real divided pan then this pan is NOT it.Thermometer tests in boiling water show's it seemingly works good.Issue with thermometer is the port.Conventional syrup evaporation is done with only 2 inches of sap in the pan. The port center sits 3.25 inches off the bottom making the thermometer useless. I either have to run deeper sap or move the port down.Luckily I suspected all this before buying and was willing to deal with it.I just want others to know what you will be getting into with it.Would make a 5 Star pan if they dropped the temp port 2 inches and put the divider to the bottom with a hole near the back for the syrup to transfer threw.It was still a great deal for me because of the preheat pan and all the hardware. To buy all this in Canada or have it all shipped from American makers would have cost alot more.
