Setup to charge a 7S Lipo battery that I built to be a small portable system for camping and such.First, I will go through the good.The controller seems to have decent tracking speed, and is very accurate. True MPPT, and has a small active cooling fan on the heatsink for the mosfets. Display is bright, and for the most part informative. You can get pretty much any aspect of the three DC inputs 'and outputs.The bad:In order to set up the custom user profile, you have to get the RS4985 to usb cable. This is pretty dumb because you could set it up right there on the screen.No way to dim the screen, and just keep it on. I like to be informed all the time about the status of my gear.Active cooling may be a little inadequate because there is nothing to help cool the inductor. The inductor is being cycled at a high rate, and will produce some hysterisis losses on top of just current flowing.There was no manual included with mine, but I was able to find the manual online after searching high and low.

Found it relatively easy to set up. On first use it was displaying an alarm condition but when I added a load this disappeared and never came back even with no load.

Works as should worth every penny

Just wire it up, power up the panels & batteries, let it go, fully automatic, works like a charm.

Works very well for the price, so we'll that I bought four!

I have a set of 400 watt panels 2 good quality 800 max but I've never seen them go much above 740 watts as I'm in northern Canada , Had an initial issue, burnt a circuit on the main high current path on the board, it was a fluke it was a not 100 % connected solder point once the amperage hit about 40 amp it Lost its hold and smoked, I .was mad but weighed the hassle of shipping it back etc etc , But being an electrician I went in and voided the warrantee to have a look , the fuses were fine good quality parts Capacitors and VRegs, fan, diodes etc were awesome quality, and the soldering was fine good quality this was a pure fluke, I re soldered the one transfer bar and all was good this was a one in a million fail I'm happy I got it, because I saw all the quality and strength this unit has . I will be buying another for sure! I've since turned it to charge 24 volts from 12 and added another 400 watts its working wonderfully and it should for years . Very happy , I've worked with many cheaper chinse controller's and there is a difference , easy to configure to apps from laptop to fine tune etc.. all GOOD Guys .

Works with my needs

First, I had a hard time to make it sense the monitor . I spend a day and a half trying.Then I realize that I had a virus detect app.I turn it off and it worked. I turned the virus app on , told it to accept this monitor app.I have been very impressed with it now.

Just what I was looking for, installed this one last night, waiting for the sun to rise up and stress test it.Til now looking great.Photo: 40A and 80A versionsI Will update if anything happends.NOTE: IT'S HUGE!
