More of a ball vise "kit"....but nice for the cost
This ball vise is a bargain for anyone starting out in engraving on a budget. I do not own any of the high end brand vises, but I have little doubt this vice is not as precisely made as its expensive competition.I have included a picture of what I received in the box. The maker went to great lengths to convince you it is a well known high end brand, but after comparing the parts breakdown to the vice, they are not the same.Hopefully if you are getting into engraving you have some skill working with metal, and you will have the ability to tune this vice "kit" and make it into a tool that will be much more pleasant to work with.Things I have identified that need to be done to mine....tightening up the fit of the jaws in the top grooves, and removing the top of the vise and cleaning/greasing the bearings. The fit of the jaws in the channel they run in is a bit sloppy for my tastes. The fit side to side appears to be much better then it is up and down. If you rock the jaw back to front there seems to be excessive movement, and I am concerned that will allow the jaws to work loose with the vibration from engraving. I plan to take a punch and peen the side of the jaw (on top of the side rail...front and back) so it fits better in the groove it slides in. I am sure this will take a little fitting and fine tuning but should make the jaws fit much more solidly. With a little sweat equity I think this will be a very nice vise at a fraction of the cost of the big name competition.

Looks like a fantastic deal!
Haven't had a chance to use it yet but very happy with delivery time and was even more impressed with the packaging. Having unpacked it and the various bits to use to clamp different things like coins, rings etc and checking that it turns smoothly I'm so impressed with the quality and considering the price of an equivalent grs ball vice is about _300+ more it makes me wonder how they (grs) get away with changing so much!! So unless after using it something unexpected happens which I would update this on, I would give this a massive thumbs up and recommend it to anyone, espa if like me you're on a tight budget.

Great value, heavy block and perfect for jewellery making
Very substantial block and a really good alternative to a grs block. I've used it for over 12 months and it's a great. Tricky to use a hammer though when setting as the bits can fly out for bezel setting but using thermoplast helps

It'll do the job it's made for.
It's sturdy and moves well. Just sits in a nylon ring, and doesn't attach to anything... But hey... It's $100 bucks. The leather pads are off a bit and will need replacing sooner than later. For the money though... It's a fine first vise for a beginner or a handy person like me that can fashion a better seat for it. But if you had more money to buy the better one... You wouldn't be reading this.... Right

The vice is well made
The vice is well made. The attachments are the same as the GRC so if you wear them out you can upgrade the attachments by buying better-made ones.

Can't figure it out
Sturdy, good value. A few minor scratches but for the money I cannot complain. The base does not keep the ball from moving but I can add something to fix that or just sit it on a thin piece of leather when I don't want it to move. But I'm puzzled by accessories. They are plentiful and mostly self-explanatory. But I am missing four that are pictured and instead got the four shiny pegs sitting diagonally in the holder in my photo. They don't fit into any hole on the vice so I have no idea what use they are. Any help would be appreciated.

Vise Vise baby
I have a real expensive vise and I really don't see much difference in them. Great buy for the price!

very pleased
The shipping was fast and this item was as advertised. Maybe due to language barrier many of the small jewelry spot welders, like this one, claim to be argon gas compatable but this one is one of the few that are set up for argon. It is easy to learn on comes with every thing but the argon tank set-up. You will need to buy an argon tank the flowmeter, or regulator, a 1\4 OD hose that goes into the welder and a 1\4 OD adapter for the regulator to plug the hose into. there is a video of this machine being hooked up on YouTube to give you an idea. it can also be used without the argon but it makes better welds when argon gas is used.
