For the money this ball is a good value. Buyers will be much happier with the performance if they take it apart and give it a clean up. I did this by taking it apart removing all the oil, taking a file and removing all the sharp edged burs and bumps and putting small chamfer on all the sharp corners. I made a set of 220 and 320 grit sanding sheets for each half of the ball by cutting sheets in half and cutting a hole in the center for the center post to fit through. Put the ball back together ( with the bearing removed) with the sanding sheets in place and turn the halves against the sand paper for a while to smooth out these surfaces. I did this with the 220 and then 320 washed off both halves with solvent (WD40) and blew it all off with compressed air and wiped it down. Applied a thin film of teflon grease resembled the the ball, turned it a bunch to distribute the grease, then took it apart and wiped of all the excess. Reassembly with the bearing and the vise will spin 8 revolutions with one flick of the hand. When I got it it wouldn't make one full turn with the same effort. All in all I'm happy with this tool.

Everything was great the ring vise pins were tight tho

Very nice vice, very heavy, and spins smooth. I was a little disappointed in the accessories that was sent with it because when you clamp down on anything they tilt up so that_ really no good but I figure I can always make my own jaws for it.

For the price it is a good tool

After reading the reviews I decided to grab one and was pleasantly surprised how good it actually is. It came with some light surface rust on the top vise, a little wd40 and a scotch bright pad took it off. You will need to clean and oil it up, lube the center bolt. Make sure the rotation break bolt is backed out if you want it to turn. Overall knowing it_ a GRS knockoff for the price I think it was a great purchase for starting engraving compared to the name brand ball vise of the same size. With a little tlc it is completely functional.

As a hobbyist and beginner jewelry maker, I can_ speak to all the differences with the original, but for what I will use it for (working on bezel setting), this is a really good ball vise. The mechanism for the one I received rotates really smoothly, silently; loosen it, give it a spin, and will go and go. Tighten it up, and it stays put. The one flaw is with the attachment set - not as well-made as the ball vise itself. In the set I received, the delrin pads weren_ attached to the conical jaws; I_ going to have to identify a glue that will attach delrin to metal, and fix that. The other pins and doo-dads look fairly coarsely machined. Not an engraver, so might not matter so much to me, but if you are, and need that, it might be a deal-breaker.

This version of the Vevor ball vise (with the plastic handle) fixes many of the earlier complaints. The pins on the top plates (see photo) screw in so it can be a fixed position or swivel like the older model. The top attachments with the small pins fit nice and snug. The problem is that the larger pins are a bit too slim. When clamped, the top plate forms a V. When using the plate clamp to hold a coin, the walls are not vertical enough to keep a tight grip. There are some small cosmetic issues that I normally wouldn't mention. For example, the parts holder is great. Except the two wings don't fit any parts. There is no place for the handle or ring mandrels. Does not affect use, but poor attention to detail.

Per quello che deve fare ottima, il peso riduce le vibrazione e la sua forma permette di mettere i pezzi in posizioni che, con dei morsi normali, sarebbero impensabili, il problema che mi arrivato usato e da quanto c' scritto e dalle immagini non dovrebbe, infatti in alcuni punti ha la ruggine e qualche colpo che ha intaccato la vernice e fatto dei solchi visibili (niente di grave in entrambi i casi), gli inserti per bloccare i pezzi particolari sono impeccabili, nuovi impacchettati con plastica termo restringente. Per il momento do 4 stelle perch voglio vedere se il fatto che sia usato diminuisca la sua durevolezza, in ogni caso 98, anche se usato, per un pezzo che sul mercato lo si trova simile se non uguale a 430 e fa le stesse cose, non fa altro che rendermi soddisfatto!!
