Has a good steel flat top on it, though not the highest grade. while it takes more than a love tab it deftly doesn't take a mighty blow with a mist hammer strike to dent the top. The horn is a bit of an odd shape but it works well enough. The Hardy tool hole isn't 1" somewhere between 3/4 and 7/8. Also the blue paint on the side and horn definitely isn't just for rust prevention.. For sure it has a secondary or maybe primary purpose to cover up many many defects in the metal That's why I give it 4 stars but don't get me wrong overall im happy with it, definitely a good starter anvil.

Excellent starter anvil. The little hammer supplied is a tempo hammer. you use it to test the levels of ringing off your anvil to check for voids. It's also carbon steel (numbers on the head say 1040) so you can test the anvil to "hear" any defects. The blue paint has to come off...but that's normal. the edges were still a little too sharp for me.but easily fixed...the horn has a nice ring to it as well..Hardy hole needs a clean up as does Pritchard hole. ..but great value, great service, great piece of kit. can't wait to move steel....its not an ASO (anvil shaped object) ....ITS AN ANVIL...and great bargain...getting a 10kg for portable work next

NOTE: this review is for the 66lb (30kg) steel (acciaio) anvil, not the lower weight and inferior quality 55lb anvil.This steel anvil is of sufficient mass to begin smithing on a small scale. I'll be using mine for tool and knifemaking and have no doubts that it will suit this need. The face is well machined, with chamfered edges to prevent damage. The hardy hole is the right shape and size though it does need cleaning up to be free of burrs. It has a nice sustained ring suggesting that the steel is well formed with no major defects but it will need to be dampened so as not to drive everyone around insane - a big old speaker magnet attached under the heel should help. I've not pounded any hot metal yet and will report back once I do. At this price, you'd be hard pushed to find anything better!

I ordered the 132lb. Version. Can't beat it for the money, good rebound, I like mine.

The product Is what you_ expect to get for the amount you pay. The anvil I received came in the blue finish that other similar models show. It had some rust in the hardy hole. The horn doesn_ have much of a ring to it but the face was perfectly flat and did have a nice ring all over. All in all I_ say this would suit anyone looking for something to get them started without breaking the bank.

Great product! Its the acciaio anvil that they sell in 66lbs. And did not come as pictured and absolutely is not drop forged but still a great anvil for the price. Steel construction.

Die Gr??e ist f_ mich optimal.Ich habe den Amboss auf einen Eichenstamm gestellt, so hat er einen stabilen Stand.Die Verarbeitung ist auch sehr gut. Ich bin kein Schmied nur Hobbybastler und forme auf dem Amboss diverse Hilfswerkzeuge, die ich aus ausgemusterten St?hlen herstelle.
