Perfect for Preparing Books to Scan
I bought this as a companion to the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 in my newly declared war on paper. Here are my initial thoughts:1. It doesn't really come with instructions (one sheet on changing the blade). So it will take some trial and error to figure out all the settings if you've never used one (I hadn't). So start on some paper that doesn't have to be "perfect" when finished -- not your most beloved coffee table book. And even though I wiped it down, the first few cuts were oily, so beware.2. It's not all that precise. So if I had needed it for professional, square cuts -- I wouldn't be as happy. For this purpose - it's "close enough for government work."3. When unbinding a book, it does leave a nice clean edge that feeds fine through the scanner. And it does cut a large stack at once. Some tips: make sure you cut far enough in from the binding to get any glue that "squished" into the pages. It's easier to take off another millimeter or two than have to stop and manually reset misfeeds due to stuck pages. I also think it's nice to take the extra time to flip the pages and cut the outside edge down so the scanned margins are the same width on each side when scanned.4. This thing is big and heavy! I didn't really notice the ship weight, but if you're not scanning at least several banker's boxes full of books, it's probably not worth it in terms of weight/space trade off. I'm still trying to figure out where I'll store the darned thing.

Sturdy, quality guillotine cutter
Looks like it was built by Mercedes cars. Sleek, simple design that looks sturdy enough to last 40 years.

Cuts like a champ! No joke, up to 400 pages without them sliding around.

good and cheap!
Excellent product, with precise cuts and adequate for a small bindery. I was reluctant to be so economical compared to others with similar characteristics, but I've tried it and it works great, although I just bought.

Great, heavy duty piece of kit.
What a machine! Heavy, well built and solid. Slices through paper like butter. But be warned it is big, and weighty so if you are a little un, you will need some help getting it out of the box, but if you are like me, big and strong, then you will be OK...seriously, great piece of kit.

Great cutter
Have a small office that we occasionally cut bulk items. It cuts 200-400 pages clean and neat (depending on weight of paper.) Staples charges for each cut when you do bulk, this pays for itself quickly if you do that kind of thing.Make a note it is quite heavy and this makes it hard to store.

... all the reviews for this product and many others like it prior to purchasing
I read all the reviews for this product and many others like it prior to purchasing. One review that stuck in my mind mention in all caps several times the you can cut your finger off. I must say you would have to be some kind of special idiot to cut your finger off with this machine, it's possible I guess but you would have to be trying.I could not be happier with this. I cut hundreds of stacks every week, a stack of 300 is effortless, have not tried 400 yet but do not expect a problem. I have been using a paper trimmer for a couple years now, actually 4 of the same model because I had to replace it every 6-12 months, at $40 each they cost more than this unit and only cut 15-20 sheets at a time.Worked perfectly for me right out of the box, no adjustments. Directions are minimal but really how much do you need to know, I was up and running in 5 minutes. I do not have any reservations recommending this unit, top notch!
