The camera head and cord have an IP68 rating, which means they can be fully submerged in water. The IP68-rated camera head is designed for full submersion during drain inspections. This prevents water from entering the camera module, which could degrade image quality or cause it to lose power.
The 0.2 in (5 mm) diameter cable is made of semi-rigid fiberglass, which is both flexible and pushable, allowing it to navigate pipe bends without getting tangled or stuck when the direction changes. The semi-rigid design transmits the push force from the reel to the camera head more efficiently through curved pipe sections than a fully flexible cable does. The camera head has 12 LEDs that light the inside of the pipe ahead of the lens. The user can choose from three brightness levels, adjusting the light output to match the pipe diameter and the reflectivity of the surface being inspected. Smaller pipes reflect more light to the lens from a given output level than larger pipes. The three-level adjustment reduces lens flare and overexposure on close-wall surfaces while ensuring sufficient light in larger pipes, where light dissipates before it reaches the far wall.
This sewer drain camera with WiFi uses a 4500 mAh rechargeable battery that provides approximately 4–5 hours of operation. This is long enough to complete most residential and business inspections without stopping to recharge. The paired mobile app supports photo capture, video recording, audio notes, and file sharing.
