The VEVOR portable mag drill is equipped with a 1400W copper-wound motor to deliver full torque during continuous drilling operations on structural steel and fabricated plates. Copper windings are better at handling heat than aluminum when under sustained load. It maintains motor temperature during long work sessions without derating or causing unexpected shutdowns. The last hole of a shift is the same as the first.
The motor can core up to Φ2 in / Φ50 mm in diameter and 2 in / 50 mm deep, and, with a twist drill, can drill Φ3–16 mm to 3.9 in / 100 mm deep. The dual-mode range allows a single machine to perform both large-bore coring and standard twist drilling. So a fabricator running mixed-hole specs on one job doesn’t have to carry a second tool, and it simplifies what they need to transport to the job site.
2922 lbf Electromagnetic Base for Locked-In Stability at Any Drilling Angle
This portable mag drill features a thickened pure-iron core that ensures an even distribution of field strength across the base contact face. Magnetic clamping force is 2,922 lbf (13,000 N). Even distribution eliminates micro-movement at the base perimeter - movement that induces vibration into the cutting zone and causes bore drift. A uniform, high-force clamp is applied to every work surface, from entry to breakthrough.
The base is standard for bridge steel, shipbuilding, and structural column work and is stable in horizontal, inverted, and angled positions. The minimum thickness of the workpiece for secure magnetic adhesion is 10 mm (0.39 in). Cast iron is permeable and does not mix with stainless steel. It is a safe two-point approach for any overhead or inverted drilling position. The safety rope must be used as a mechanical backup for overhead and lateral drilling.

The 750 RPM ceiling also aids chip evacuation with smaller-diameter twist bits, as the higher spindle speed keeps the flutes clear down the bore depth. Starting the cut at low RPM allows the cutting edge to find center before the speed increases for the main pass, resulting in cleaner hole entry geometry and less bit walk on smooth or curved steel surfaces.
