i have this about a year now and love it. i have been making little things on it when i get bored. i cannot fault this item. the one thing is that it is a pity you have not a variable speed knob. next upgrade i will keep this in mind also with a chuck. but as a beginner to this it is really good.

Stepped up from an older lathe to this. Completely satisfied. Have been turning pens and smaller stuff so far. But this thing is solid and a great deal for the price.

Unit is solid and works as expected with only one disappointment and that is the motor being more underpowered than I expected. Not a huge issue as this is a smaller inexpensive lathe.

This is a great lathe, especially for beginners and intermediates. I have a large Powermatic; I still frequently use this one. Just started a chess set on this lathe. I strongly recommend this lathe.

I got this lathe for my dad on his birthday. Not knowing much about lathes he picked up on it quick and this little thing has turned out to be his favorite tool in his shop. Well worth the money and is capable of making some great things. The variable motor speed is smooth and clean. If you are unsure if you want to make the big investment of a more professional lathe this is a great lathe to start with.

Got this lathe for Christmas from my awesome gf. Bought some carbide tools, harbor freight 4 jaw chuck and lathe stand, pen mandrell from psi, and a few other odds and ends. So far this has been an awesome little lathe to get me back into turning. Like other reviewers said, if you're planning to do large bowls , you'll need something bigger. For pens, stoppers, openers, ect, this is perfect.
